Thank you to everyone who made the 2014 Annual Potluck Dinner a success! Not only was the dinner a lot of fun, but it helped raise funds for RPCVLA’s goals of:
- Supporting Peace Corps volunteers currently in the field (via Care Package Project / Yamanaka Fund)
- Building an active team of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers for community service and social interaction
In total, 127 RPCVs and nominees joined with family and friends to celebrate the spirit of Peace Corps through this year’s theme “Building Stronger Communities.” Attendees enjoyed dishes from over 54 countries and were entertained by special guests Professor Paul Laris who spoke about his passion for volunteerism and 2014 Local Hero Award Barbara Sinclair, who regaled the audience with stories from her time as Head of Peace Corps Training. In addition, a recent Yamanaka fund recipient shared how RPCVLA’s Yamanaka Fund supported her Camp GLOW project in Nicaragua, which promotes “girls leading our world.”
In addition to the great speakers, we had an exciting raffle and silent auction. Congrats to the winners and thank you to the Renahan family for their generous donation of the Silent Auction week in Big Bear, CA.
