What's New at RPCVLA

Need 15 Volunteers for Short Term Project

Do you have a few hours to help RPCVLA reach out to former members?
As a part of our membership drive, we need assistance to enter the names and last known addresses of almost 1200 prior RPCVLA members into our database. This will enable us to let them know about our present day organization and invite them to reconnect.

The data entry must be completed by July 15, 2010. If you can help, please contact our Membership Coordinator, Lindy Lindeman. membership@rpcvla.org

Bringing RPCVs to Membership in RPCVLA

For more than 40 years, RPCVLA, begun as the Peace Corps Service Council under the inspiration of Hal and Barbara Huffer and other early RPCVs, has offered support and friendship through an understanding of what it means to have been a Volunteer from those who have shared that experience.

In a model of productive citizenship, our service has continued with projects that meet the needs of our at-home community, support of Volunteers in the field, and as public witness of the people among whom we have had the opportunity to live.

As we approach the 50th Anniversary of the Peace Corps, RPCVLA is mounting a major campaign to find RPCVs in our area and invite them into our big tent. Tell your RPCV friends, neighbors, co-workers, and fellow students that we’re here and we welcome them. They can visit our website http://www.rpcvla.org/ to learn more about our activities. Or if you would like us to reach out to them, please send contact information to our Membership Coordinator, Lindy Lindeman membership@rpcvla.org

New Membership Renewal Year

In order to simplify membership renewal and record keeping, RPCVLA has instituted a new renewal policy. All memberships will run from October 1 to September 30 each year. If you have joined or renewed your membership after June 1, 2010, your membership will be valid until September 30, 2011. Those who have joined or renewed between January 1 and May 31, 2010 can ask to have an adjustment in next year’s membership, which will be due on October 1.

The cost of annual membership in RPCVLA is still just $15.00. What other cost has remained the same for more than 20 years?

To get four extra months of membership, renew now by visiting our membership page. http://www.rpcvla.org/membership.html. You will be able to update your information and pay online or by check.

"An institutional memory of this complex organization is being built day by day creating a bridge to an exciting future. This is an effort, lead by recently returned volunteers, to positivity develop the concept called Peace Corps - the history of Peace Corps and the projects that volunteers have done in over 139 countries around the world, ever since Kennedy announced 'And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.'" -Mike Sheppard, RPCV / The Gambia 2003-2005
