Guidelines for Applying

The Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Los Angeles (RPCVLA) offers financial support through the Jean Yamanaka Memorial Fund to currently serving Peace Corps Volunteers for projects in their host communities.

To be eligible, volunteers must have either lived in Los Angeles County or be recommended by an active member in RPCVLA. Volunteers must have more than 9 months until their completion of service (COS) date when their application is received by RPCVLA.

Applications are accepted year-round. However, a committee from RPCVLA will evaluate them on a quarterly basis.

Maximum request: Up to $500.

Preference will be given to projects that are community driven and meet a common need.

RPCVLA requires that successful applicants confirm receipt of monies as well as submit a final report before COS that includes a short description of the project, how grant monies were spent (including receipts), and photographs of community members using or enjoying the results of the project.

Applications should include a narrative of 2-3 pages single-spaced.

Please address the following points in your narrative:

  1. Volunteer name and name of program
  2. Contact information in country
  3. U.S. hometown
  4. Connection to Los Angeles or RPCVLA
  5. Your COS date
