Another RPCVLA Summer Tradition is Back!

Join us Saturday, July 27th for a night of laughter, friends, and the Bard under the stars outside at the Griffith Park Old Zoo for the Independent Shakespeare Company’s performance of She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith.

She Stoops to Conquer (by Oliver Goldsmith)

Mr. Marlowe is a catch. Handsome. Rich. Witty. There’s only one problem: among the ladies in his circle he stammers, stumbles and can’t look them in the eye. In the company of a barmaid or a serving-woman, however, he’s a smooth operator. What’s a guy like that to do when he’s called upon to woo the lovely, fashionable, and most decidedly upper-class Kate Hardcastle? And how will the clever Kate respond?
This 18th-century comedy has it all. Romance, mistaken identity, a thrilling chase scene, and a love song to liquor. It’s a big-hearted, exhuberant romp and the perfect way to spend a summer evening in the park.

We will aim to find a space stage right, where the beach chair seating starts and stack out both chair and blanket space. Look for RPCVLA shirts or signs or give me a call at 562/537-8583.

Performances begin promptly at 7pm. Please give yourself enough time to drive to the site, park your car, and make your way to the venue.

Bring a picnic, a low chair or blanket and a warm jacket! Once the sun goes down, it gets quite chilly. The show is free, but the actors appreciate and deserve a donation. Please note, it is a city park, and alcohol is prohibited (read – be creative).

It is a short walk along a paved path to the venue. Wear comfortable shoes. There will be ISC volunteers in the parking lot and along the path to the stage eager to assist you. Although they light the exit path, you may want to bring your own flashlight as well.

For directions and parking info, please visit http://www.independentshakespeare.com/.

Please RSVP so we know how much space to reserve!
